History of Haynes
Haynes was founded in 1960 after John Haynes OBE wrote and published his first book in 1956 on building an Austin 7 Special. He wrote two more manuals while doing his National Service in the RAF but it wasn't until 1965 that the first Haynes Owners Workshop Manual was published which covered the Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite. This first Haynes workshop manual set the standard for many Haynes manuals to follow and today the manuals are published in around 15 different languages.
The range of Haynes books and manuals available today is now vast and available online, and covers a wide range of subjects from the famous car and motorcycle manuals to subjects like family and health matters, DIY/Home decorating, transport, maritime, aviation and motor sport, tractors, commercial vehicles, cycling, camping and caravanning, American cars and even books for kids too. Haynes is now much more than just workshop manuals for cars and motorcyles.
